Meet Laura

I'm Laura Obuchowski, a licensed and ASHA-certified speech-language pathologist with 10 years of experience working alongside students of all ages with complex communication needs in the public-school setting. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Abilene Christian University in 2014 and my Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology from Texas Christian University in 2016.

My career has centered around AAC — not as a last resort, but as a first response. I believe that every person who cannot rely on verbal speech alone deserves access to a robust, individualized communication system, and that the teams and families around them deserve the support to make it work. I don't follow one single AAC methodology, because no single approach fits every person. What I bring instead is deep clinical experience, a commitment to finding what works for each individual, and a trauma-informed lens that shapes every interaction I have — with clients, families, and the teams who serve them. I am a trained Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) Practitioner, and I believe that feeling safe, connected, and empowered is the foundation on which all communication growth is built.

I loved my work in the public schools. But over time I kept running into the same wall: meaningful, lasting progress with AAC communicators doesn't happen in one setting. It happens when the classroom, the home, the therapy room, and the community are all pulling in the same direction — and that requires someone who can move between all of them. I started APP Speech & Language Services, PLLC because I wanted to be able to give families the time, attention, and partnership they deserve. Parents and caregivers are not a footnote in the AAC process. They are the center of it.

About APP Speech & Language

APP Speech & Language Services, PLLC is a professional speech-language consulting practice based in Tarrant County, Texas, specializing in augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), assistive technology (AT), and comprehensive literacy. We serve school districts, day habilitation and individualized skills and support centers, and individual families — bringing expert assessment, implementation support, and professional development to the people and teams who need it most.

Our name says everything about how we work. Always — because communication development is continuous throughout the lifespan and potential is not limited by age, behaviors, or disability. Presuming — because we show up to every evaluation, every coaching session, and every conversation with the expectation that growth is possible with the right tools and support. Potential — because we are not just unlocking what is already there. Together, we are building safe, understandable, joyful communication.

We believe communication access is a right. We believe families belong at the center of the process. And we believe that the most meaningful progress happens when everyone in a person's life is equipped, informed, and working together.

Every person deserves to be heard.

Let’s make that happen together.
