Expanding communication access for those who need it most — and building the capacity of the teams who serve them.
Our mission
APP Speech & Language exists to expand communication and literacy access for individuals with complex communication needs — by equipping the care teams, schools, and families who support them with the expertise, tools, and confidence to make lasting progress possible. We believe communication and literacy are basic human rights, there is always potential for growth, and no one should have to fight alone for a voice.
Our values
Always Presuming Potential We believe every person, regardless of age, diagnosis, behaviors, or communication history, has the capacity to grow. We show up to every evaluation, every coaching session, and every conversation with the unwavering expectation that progress is possible with the right tools and support - and it’s worth pursuing.
Communication and Literacy are Rights Access to a functional, individualized communication system and to meaningful comprehensive literacy instruction are not privileges reserved for those who meet a certain threshold. They are fundamental human rights, and we advocate for them without exception.
Wraparound Partnership Meaningful, lasting progress in AAC and literacy for individuals with complex communication needs does not happen in one setting. It happens when schools, care teams, families, and communities are all moving in the same direction. We are committed to being the connective tissue that makes that possible.
Families at the Center Parents and caregivers are not a footnote in the communication and literacy process — they are the most important people in it. We invest in family education, caregiver coaching, and parent engagement because we know that what happens at home matters as much as what happens in the classroom or care setting.
Trauma-Informed Care Every person we serve has a story. We believe feeling safe, connected, and empowered is the foundation on which communication and literacy access are built. We bring a trauma-informed lens to every interaction — with clients, families, and the teams who support them.
Evidence-Based, Person-Centered Practice We don't follow one single methodology because no single approach fits every person. We draw from the best available evidence, stay current in the field of speech-language pathology, and always keep the individual — their preferences, their context, and their potential — at the center of every decision we make.
Every person deserves to be heard.
Let’s make that happen together.
